Stay Connected in Greece โ eSIM & Mobile Data
Arrange mobile data for your Rhodes or Greece trip before you fly. Compare your options and get EIOTCLUB's Europe travel eSIM, which lists Greece among its supported destinations.
Why sort out mobile data before you land in Greece
Maps to your hotel, your booking confirmations, WhatsApp messages to your driver โ most of a Greek holiday runs through your phone. Arranging data at home means you are not hunting for a SIM shop or Wi-Fi in the arrivals hall at Rhodes Airport.
Visitors from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and other non-EU countries should check roaming carefully: being in an EU country does not mean your home plan includes affordable roaming. EU "Roam Like at Home" rules generally apply only to eligible EU/EEA subscriptions, and UK providers are no longer required to offer surcharge-free EU roaming.

Your main options for internet in Greece
- Home-provider roaming โ the easiest choice if Greece is already included in your plan. Check daily passes, data limits and extra charges first.
- Local Greek prepaid SIM โ useful for longer stays or if you need a Greek phone number and ordinary calls. Compare current offers with Greek operators and check registration requirements.
- Travel eSIM โ a digital SIM you install before departure on a compatible, unlocked phone. Many travel eSIMs are data-only.
- International physical SIM โ an alternative for unlocked phones without eSIM support; check Greece is on that product's coverage list.
Why consider EIOTCLUB for a Greece trip
EIOTCLUB's Europe Prepaid Travel eSIM lists Greece among its supported destinations, so it is worth comparing for a Greece-only holiday or a trip that combines several European countries on its list. You set it up at home over Wi-Fi and switch to it for data when you arrive.
The EIOTCLUB app lets you monitor your data usage and package expiry once your eSIM is linked, and eligible plans can be topped up or extended through the app or EIOTCLUB's recharge website. Additional data is a separate purchase under your plan's rules.
Choosing a plan without buying more than you need
EIOTCLUB offers fixed-data plans and unlimited plans for Europe. Unlimited plans include a daily high-speed allowance, after which speed is reduced. Choose by trip length and how you actually use your phone โ a week of maps and messaging needs far less than working through a laptop hotspot. Always check the current allowance, validity, price and activation rules on EIOTCLUB's product page before buying; prices and offers change.
Checklist before you buy
- Device: your phone must support eSIM and be network-unlocked.
- Coverage: confirm Greece (and any stopover country) is on the selected plan's current list.
- Allowance: check total data, any daily high-speed limit and what happens afterwards. Hotspot use shares the same allowance.
- Validity: read when the countdown starts โ on installation or on first connection โ before installing early.
- Calls and SMS: a data-only plan does not include a Greek number or ordinary cellular calls. App calls (WhatsApp and similar) work over data.
- Reception: coverage can vary by location; no SIM or eSIM guarantees signal on every beach or mountain road.
Setting up your eSIM
Buy and install at home on stable Wi-Fi, following the instructions in your order email (usually a QR code). Keep your home SIM for calls if you have a dual-SIM phone, select the travel eSIM for mobile data, and turn data roaming on only for the travel line if the instructions require it. Save offline copies of your bookings as a backup.
Plan the rest of your Rhodes trip
Once your data is sorted, book your Rhodes airport transfer, compare car rentals in Rhodes or browse boat trips around Rhodes on Looneytravels.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get mobile data in Rhodes without paying roaming charges?
Installing a prepaid Greece travel eSIM on an unlocked, compatible phone before your flight is the easiest way to avoid roaming fees. Once you land at Rhodes Airport, you simply switch your mobile data line to the eSIM and connect immediately without paying daily carrier surcharges.
Do UK travellers have free roaming in Greece?
Not all UK mobile networks include free EU roaming in Greece, as post-Brexit rules allow providers to apply daily passes or data caps. Unless your specific domestic contract still guarantees surcharge-free EU usage, a prepaid travel eSIM is often cheaper for a one- or two-week holiday.
Does the EIOTCLUB Europe eSIM work on the island of Rhodes?
Yes, Greece is an official supported destination on the EIOTCLUB Europe Prepaid Travel eSIM, which includes coverage across Rhodes and the Greek islands. It connects to partner local Greek networks to provide data in towns, resorts, and along main road routes.
Can I still use WhatsApp with a data-only Greece eSIM?
Yes, WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage, and Telegram continue to work normally using your existing account and phone number over the eSIM data connection. Because it is a data-only plan, it does not include a Greek phone number for traditional cellular voice calls or SMS.
When should I install my travel eSIM for Greece?
You should purchase and install your eSIM at home over a stable Wi-Fi connection a day or two before departure. Keep the eSIM line turned off until you land in Greece, and always verify on the EIOTCLUB product page whether your specific plan's validity starts at installation or first network connection.
Can I share my eSIM data via personal hotspot in Rhodes?
Yes, hotspot tethering is supported, though any data used by connected laptops, tablets, or family phones comes out of your main plan allowance. If you choose an unlimited plan, hotspot usage counts toward the daily high-speed cap before speeds are reduced.
What happens if I run out of eSIM data during my Greece trip?
You can check your remaining balance and purchase a data top-up directly through the EIOTCLUB mobile app or their online recharge portal. Topping up recharges your existing profile so you do not need to install a brand-new QR code.
